The outdoor displays of real military marine vessels makes this museum stand out. The ships appear to be in great condition and there is knowledge staff onboard each vessel to offer visitors information and answer questions you may have.

I also liked looking at related marine exhibits inside. While I was there, there was a marine photography display and it had some amazing National Geographic level photos. Just amazing. I only wish I could take a photo as good as they have.

Plan to spend at least one hour here. Note if you are tall or suffer from confined spaces then going into the submarine may not be such a good idea. It is cramped inside and if you are taller than 5 ft 6 then you will likely hit your head on something.

Union station is one of Toronto’s most visited national historic sites. Built during the First World War, Union station was Toronto’s first ambassador’s welcoming immigrants to a new world and a gateway towards Canada’s western provinces. Construction of this Beaux Art design structure was officially completed and opened by His Royal Highness, Edward prince of Wales in 1927.

The massive building was used by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), the Canadian National Railway (CNR) and many other feeder railway lines to carry passengers and cargo across Canada. Currently it is used as a connecting hub by VIA rail, Go Transit and the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).

I suggest that you look around the station’s architecture to see historic carvings in the Zumbro and limestone walls and foundations. Then just imagine what stories these echoing walls could tell.

Brewer Park

Brewer park is a great place to take the family and enjoy sporting activities. Lots of baseball diamonds and soccer fields. There is also playground for the kids. There is lots to see in the area too as the Rideau river runs through the park and there is amazing graffiti art underneath the Bronson bridge.

You can also take your dog out for a run in the vast green spaces of the park.

The Buttonville airport (IATA YKZ/ ICAO CYKZ) has been in operation since 1953 originally as a grass strip runway. This was the home of Leggat Aviation. The airport grew with paved surfaces and larger numbers of General Aviation aircraft and Flight Training Units like Toronto Airways. This airport became one of the highest aircraft movement airports in Canada.

Buttonville airport use to be in the middle of farrm land accessible by single lane roads. Now with urban sprawl the privately owed airport's hangar doors will close and the 170 acre property will be turned into residential / retail and commercial property.

It is sad to think that the training centre for so many of Canada's aviators, possibly including your Air Canada's flight crew, will not be an optional training centre in the future

If you like my reviews, photos or videos take off with the thumbs up Buttonville
