Petersen House

Across the street from Ford's Theater, this is where Abraham Lincoln was brought after he was shot. Today, it is included in the ticket to see the Ford's Theatre museum, so one can head here right after the museum.

It is a very cool building, where one starts in the room where Abraham Lincoln had his final breath, before taking an elevator to learn about the aftermath of Lincoln's assassination.

One of the most amazing things is the tower of books about Abraham Lincoln in the center of a spiral staircase to represent the long-term impact of his presidency. It is 4 stories tall and a marvel to walk around when one descends to exit into the gift store.
The View of DC

A free observation deck in Rosslyn, Arlington providing 360 views of DC. While not as spectacular as the Washington Monument, it is a very cool place to visit with wide halls and an outdoor deck area to relax.

To enter, one just needs to show a government-issued ID, go through a metal detector, and have a bag check before riding the elevator 400 feet up!
A surprisingly well-curated museum that has rotating exhibits that are so interesting and interactive. All the art pieces are well-explained and well-documented. Since it is a Smithsonian Museum, it is free to enter.

It is a smaller museum with two levels. It is air-conditioned, has bathrooms, and there is a bag check at the door.

Recommend stopping on the second level to lie on one's back and marvel at the sculpture overhead.
Panorama Museum

Beautiful museum that discusses the history of bathing and swimming pools in Europe, but the coolest exhibit is that of Hubert Sattler, who created Cosmoramas around the world and also painted a Panorama of Salzburg which is truly a must-see! It is covered by the Salzburg Card, which is another plus!
